Definition:

All persons who receive mental health and/or substance use services have protected rights that are defined in the Michigan Mental Health Code. This is known as Recipient Rights. Mental health and substance abuse treatment facilities are required to have a Recipient Rights Advisor on staff to prevent abuses of the people being served.
