Definition:

A type of group work that can be part of comprehensive dual disorders treatment, which features didactic or educational information presented to clients in a manner that is matter-of-fact and nonjudgmental.

The goal of such groups is to provide factual data about substance use disorders, mental health disorders, and the way that co-occurring disorder interact such that clients are equipped to have well-informed understandings of their own dual disorders, and better motivated to become engaged in a recovery direction for having these better-informed understandings.
