Definition:

Early Intervention is a term used to describe the treatment and prevention programs that are early efforts to intervene or educate a person about their use. A person in an Early Intervention program may or may not meet the criteria for a substance use disorders and, if so, will usually be in the Precontemplation or Contemplation stage of change, unaware of the depth of the problem.
